Meatballs can be used for just about anything. They are a classic recipe, perfect in soups, casseroles or meatball sandwiches, spaghetti and meatballs, or even used as dippers or appetizers! They are also very easy to put together!
The first thing to remember is that meatballs are a combination of some type of bread or crackers, eggs, and seasonings. Therefore, mix them before adding the meat. It will make the difference because the meat won’t be handled too much thus not making the meatballs tough.
If you like to mix vegetables to your meatballs, such as onions, make sure you cook them before adding the raw meat.
What meat should you use? It’s really up to you. You make meatballs out of ground beef, ground pork, ground chicken, ground turkey, or even ground sausage (our Toscana meatballs are heavenly)! You can even combine different types of meat to have unique flavours.
In order to cook evenly, meatballs should be the same size. In order to achieve that, use an ice cream scoop. You can cook them by baking them in the oven, simmering in tomato sauce – or any other liquid -, or browning in a skillet.
