Easy ways to cook chicken

Chicken is delicious, one of the healthiest meats, and the most versatile when it comes to cooking: it can be roasted, baked, grilled, sautéed, braised, and the list goes on. Here are a few ways to cook chicken – you’ll have different dishes going every day of the week.

Roasted Chicken – it’s tasty, so satisfying, and one of the easiest ways to prepare a delicious family dinner.

Baked Chicken – Many people believe that roasted and baked chicken are the same. In fact, they are not. First of all, baked chicken is prepared with individual parts – drumsticks, wings, breasts… – whereas roasted is cooked whole. There is one more difference: baked chicken is wrapped in seasoned flour – actually seasoning is what makes this chicken dish stand out – whereas roasted chicken doesn’t have seasoning.

Braised Chicken – braising is a cooking technique that helps turn tough meats into tender and succulent ones. It is also a great way to make chicken as it involves baking or simmering meat in a little liquid. The secret to this technique is to cook it low and slow in the oven. For best results, braise the chicken in chicken stock.

Pan-fried Chicken – Also known as sautéed chicken. It simply means to cook the chicken in a hot pan with very little fat (olive oil is the best option) and finishing it in the oven or by simmering it in some sort of sauce. (see our recipes) The best part of the chicken for this method is chicken breast cutlets.

Poached Chicken – Another easy technique to cook chicken, whether you choose a whole chicken or chicken breasts (for example). Chicken breasts are already very lean, and poaching them means you cook them with zero added fat so they turn out very healthy as well as juicy and tender. This is a favourite for many people as it can be used in chicken salads, chicken enchiladas, chicken pot pie, and various kinds of pasta dishes. When you’re done making poached chicken, use the broth as it is delicious in soups, sauces, rice, and so many other recipes.
